Since I've been back home, I have been able to catch up with a lot of my friends. Some of them I don't see often enough during the school year because life is busy. But the summer allows for prolonged visits, dinners and lunch dates and all kinds of social activity. I've discovered that I love kayaking. I've been to new restaurants. Morning coffee dates have stretched well into the afternoon. Having the summer off really is one of the greatest blessings of being a teacher. I know some teachers moan about it because we don't get paid, but not me. Two months to catch up with friends is a gift. And I love it.
